Yesterday we celebrated World Photography Day and boy, am I happy the shutterbug came into my life! That happened when I got divorced and went on vacation to Bonaire (from Holland) by myself. I still have the image I took of some cacti. I LOVE that picture.

I took some courses in Rotterdam and went on vacation by myself again to Barbados, where I met my (now) husband. A move to Port Orange followed. Found the community at (then) Daytona Beach Community College, signed up as a member at the Casements Camera Club (then consisting of about 20 members) and the rest is history.

Without photography I would not have gone through this pandemic as easily. And now with the Delta variant raging it is worse, because with the awards reception of the 8th Spring Exhibit we thought the worst was over. Guess again: we cancelled the in-person meetings of July and August and the reception for the 41st Annual Show!

Meanwhile my head hurts from thinking what to do next…

We managed to keep the Casements Camera Club going and at World Photography Day we came together to celebrate at Rockefeller Park. In spite of the heat of the day we had a nice breeze from the river and although the sunset wasn’t as nice, we still managed to get some pictures.

My goal for that shoot was capturing the Casements in the warmth of golden hour – which didn’t happen because of cloud cover and capturing the lights of the bridge as stars. With a setting of f/16 that worked out perfectly. So I returned home (late) a happy camper!

Till next time,
